The California legislature designed the CCPA with the consumer in mind. W ith the footprint of California’s economy on the national stage, many organizations are looking at CCPA and wonderin g, “ What do we do now?”ġ. Most US businesses have substantial ties to the state and its 39 million consumers. This sweeping act includes some of the most stringent requirements regarding the use and misuse of private data of California consumers -which is fitting, considering that, on its own, California would be the fifth – largest economy in the world, falling between Germany and the UK. On January 1, 2020, while most of us were nursing the results of the night before, California took the wrapping paper off of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Has GDPR washed up on the western shores of the United States? In some ways, yes. This event, along with NightOwl Global, is leading the innovation and transformation path toward a SOLID direction. Jen Warner from Columbia Sportwear Company kicked off the third SOLID West with a genuine and personal approach to developing and inspiring leadership. SOLID, presented by The Cowen Group, is by invite only and it draws the top thought leaders in legal technology and innovation including chief innovation officers from the country’s largest firms, practicing lawyers, and leading product and service providers like NightOwl Global. There were over twenty topics presented in 7-minute segments. Speakers at this fast pace Ted-style talk shared what they are doing, how they are doing it, and the business impact.
